Aaron & Sarah

I’m struggling to find the right words to accompany Aaron & Sarah’s wedding. Writing about the weather and how amazing Sarah looked in her dress just seems a bit trivial… Sarah & Aaron Skype called me before they booked and when I mentioned, that they just need to be present in the many special moments of a wedding day, Sarah started crying – she was just so happy to be engaged and planning their wedding. This made me extremely excited to shoot their day…
2 Months before the wedding I got a phone call (Aaron), telling me the news that we all dread… Sarah’s sister, Cleo was killed in a car accident, that they’re going ahead with the wedding and that he’s handling all the arrangements further to take the stress away from Sarah. Needless to say I wasn’t sure what to expect of the actual day…how was I to photograph one of the most special and happy days, in a person’s life focusing on the laughter and joy without making it seem that there isn’t a very special person missing from the celebrations or focusing so much on that, that I forget that this day was all about Aaron & Sarah’s love for each other…
Luckily Aaron & Sarah’s wedding day became a story of the strength, the tenacity of the human spirit and the celebration of love and life. They where truly present in the moment and distilled the day into what is really important… I hope the images tell that story. Sarah & Aaron, it really was a privilege to see the two of you together and reassess my own view of life.
