I could try and write something beautiful and profound about this couple, but it will not be as beautiful as this letter Kristen wrote to Russell. Russel & Kristen I sincerely hope that you could look back on your marriage in 30 years time and say: “We had the best possible life”.
If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. -African Proverb
To my husband:
I remember the first time we met like it was yesterday, we were 18 years old, Sume’s father’s golf dance, you were wearing a white wife beater, a bell bottom jeans that flared for days, white shoes and highlights in your hair.
We only spoke for like 5 minutes that night, but I remember everything we talked about,2 months later we bumped into each other at Nikita’s of all places, I was not going to greet, thinking you would not remember me anyway, but then I had this sudden urge to shout “hey is Sumé here” ; your answer was: “no Sumé left but I’m here” We danced the night away and as they say the rest is history…. Today (ten and a half years later) I am so proud, honoured and grateful to call you my husband. You are one of the most amazing people I know. You love unconditionally and you care wholeheartedly. Your sincerity, patience and compassion is some of the qualities I admire most about you. Sometimes I can’t believe that I’m so blessed to have you as a partner for life, you make me so happy and we share so many amazing memories together. My wish for us is to be happy, continue to love one another everyday as if it is was our last, to have fun, travel and make more memories, to have a family and grow old together, so that one day when we are sitting on our little “stoep” having our morning coffee, we can look back and say we had the best possible life. LOVE YOU
Your wife,
